Sharp is announcing a 32-inch 4K monitor today that uses its LGZO LCD tech expected to hit the Japanese market in February 2013. The roughly $5,500 PN-K321 monitor sports a 3,840-by-2,160 resolution and HDMI and DisplayPort inputs. According to Sharp, it will also be the thinnest monitor frame on the market at just 35mm. Even if analysts were wrong about a full-fledged TV set from Apple next year, these new Sharp displays would certainly make a pretty Thunderbolt display.

Jeśli tego typu ekran pojawi się w w Thunderbolt Display albo iMaku to będę pierwszy w kolejce w sklepie. Mam jednak nadzieję, że ktoś w końcu stworzy ładny wizualnie monitor, a matową matrycą, żeby na rynku w końcu pojawiły się alternatywy dla monitorów Apple. Niestety żaden inny mi się zwyczajnie nie podoba wizualnie.

According to our sources, Apple’s already announced plans for November and December launches of the redesigned 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMac lines are still on track.

Our sources say that Apple is already shipping new 21.5-inch iMacs to its distribution hubs across the United States and several other countries across the world. These sources also expect the 21.5-inch computers to be available to order from Apple’s online store by the end of this month. It is also likely that the new models will reach Apple’s physical retail stores by the end of November.

Nowe iMaki są rzekomo już w drodze do sklepów na całym świecie, a tymczasem mam cały czas wątpliwości czy będzie moim następnym komputerem. Mój iMac znowu zaczął delikatnie okazywać ślady plamienia – tym razem w lewym górym rogu ekranu1. Dzwoniłem w tej sprawie do Apple i nowa matryca już ponoć czeka … Tylko co mi po kolejnej wadliwej matrycy? Zastanawiam się czy nie czas zacząć działać bardziej stanowczo.

The fourth-generation iPad joins the iPhone 5, iPad mini, iPod touch, and iPod nano in sporting Apple’s new Lightning connector. Will Apple ever use this patent against its competitors? Maybe, but there’s an inherent downside to asserting a patent like this: it’s vulnerable to invalidity arguments. The narrower a patent is the harder it is to find prior art devices or publications that have everything you need to knock it out. Conversely, the broader the patent the easier it is to come up with something that a judge or jury (or even the patent office) can use to invalidate it. Even though Apple submitted hundreds of prior art documents while this patent was being reviewed by the USPTO, it sure feels like a weapon too fragile for battle. It could very well just be a let’s-see-what-we-can-get patent with no real offensive future. We’ll see.

You can buy a charger that looks just like an Apple charger for about $2, but the charger is nothing like an Apple charger internally. The power is extremely bad quality (as I will show below). But more importantly, these chargers ignore safety standards. Since chargers have hundreds of volts internally, there’s a big risk if a charger doesn’t have proper insulation. You’re putting your phone, and more importantly yourself, at risk if you use one of these chargers.

The Company sold 26.9 million iPhones in the quarter, representing 58 percent unit growth over the year-ago quarter. Apple sold 14.0 million iPads during the quarter, a 26 percent unit increase over the year-ago quarter. The Company sold 4.9 million Macs during the quarter, a 1 percent unit increase over the year-ago quarter. Apple sold 5.3 million iPods, a 19 percent unit decline from the year-ago quarter.

Apple opublikował dokument dotyczący Fusion Drive. Jeśli słuchacie ostatniego numer Nadgryzionych to w paru kwestiach się tam myliłem. Przede wszystkim nie jest to RAID/Stripe, tylko dwa oddzielne dyski widziane przez OS X w ten sposób. Użytkownik jednak widzi już tylko jeden dysk.
