Apple knew as early as March 2014 of a security hole that left the personal data of iCloud users vulnerable, according to leaked emails between the company and a noted security researcher.

The emails, obtained earlier this month by the Daily Dot and reviewed by multiple security experts, show Ibrahim Balic, a London-based software developer, informing Apple of a method he’d discovered for infiltrating iCloud accounts.

While we’re still working on the full review, I want to get out some preliminary results for the iPhone 6. For now, this means some basic performance data and battery life, which include browser benchmarks, game-type benchmarks, and our standard web browsing battery life test. There’s definitely a lot more to talk about for this phone, but this should give an idea of what to expect in the full review. To start, we’ll look at the browser benchmarks, which can serve as a relatively useful proxy for CPU performance.

Big, awkward and beautiful. Those are three adjectives. They also happen to describe the iPhone 6 Plus perfectly.

It seems very clear that our communication devices are turning into something different. I’m not happy about it but I’m also willing to accept that I may not represent the rest of the market.

Against my better judgment and personal bias I purchased a 6 Plus. This is a summary of what I like and hate about the device.

From our industry-standard series of tests both in the lab and real world use, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus perform very similarly. They have very good, generally reliable auto-exposure in a wide range of lighting conditions and they have both fast and accurate autofocus. Output from the 8-Mpix stills improves the high level of detail in both outdoor and indoor lighting. In low light, noise reduction is handled well with images revealing fine-grained luminance noise and little of the distracting color (chroma) noise.

The main differences between the 2 cameras come from the OIS present in the iPhone 6 Plus. On one hand, the OIS helps to increase still images exposure time in low light, leading to better noise performance. Ghosting on HDR images also seems smaller with the iPhone 6 Plus, probably helped by the OIS that ensure a good registration between images. On the other hand, we have observed a video stabilization artifact, on the iPhone 6 Plus, most likely linked to the OIS control that lead to a video stabilization score slightly lower for the iPhone 6 Plus than for the iPhone 6.

Wczoraj znaleziono dziurę w bash i dotyczy to przede wszystkim Linuxów, ale również OS X. Możecie sprawdzić czy jesteście bezpieczni czy nie wpisując poniższe do Terminala:

  • env x='() { :;}; echo vulnerable' bash -c 'echo hello'

Przepis na zabezpieczenie się znajdziecie u źródła – ja skorzystałem z tego dla Xcode, którego mam zainstalowanego.

Apple pokpiło sprawę interfejsu. W rezultacie korzystam z trybu “zoom” tracąc zalety płynące z większego ekranu, bo inaczej nie mogę patrzeć na aplikacje z App Store.

Apple przez premierą iPhone’a 6 przeskalowało odpowiednio wszystkie swoje aplikacje (…) Niestety, poważny problem jest z aplikacjami z App Store, co może powodować frustrację użytkowników iPhone’a 6. Firma z Cupertino zafundowała nam bowiem sytuację, w której mało która aplikacja dobrze wygląda na fenomenalnym ekranie szóstki.

Apple pokpiło sprawę, ale Vesper, Overcast, Evernote, PCalc, Day One [App Store link] i kilka innych aplikacji ma już nowe UI gotowe w dniu premiery iPhone’ów. Czy tylko ja tutaj wyczuwam brak logiki? Prawda jest taka, że gdyby wielu developerów nie przegapiło kilku szkoleń z WWDC to nie byłoby takiej sytuacji. Jak widać, część osób się przygotowała prawidłowo.

Piotrze – ja wiem, że to marudzenie nakręca Wam kliki, ale naprawdę nie tędy droga.

When connected to a Mac running OS X Yosemite, both models reported drawing 1600 mA of extra power, in addition to the base 500 mA used by the USB standard, suggesting that the new models can be charged more rapidly when using a higher-current power adapter or newer Mac. With 2.1-Amp power, the iPhone 6 Plus appears to be capable of recharging to 90% in around two hours, a number that will be markedly longer with the slower included 1-Amp adapter.
