Xiaomi MacBook Air – nie wygląda nic jak MacBook Air Apple’a →

Stephen Hall:

As you can see in the image above, everything from the black chiclet keys to the wedge-shaped sides are eerily similar to Apple’s line of thin laptops. The design of the back hinge, the device’s camera, trackpad, and the aluminum and black color scheme would confuse most if it weren’t for some obvious differences. The Xiaomi “Mi” logo is placed directly in the center of the screen’s bottom bezel, and it looks like the company decided to go with bright orange for the device’s keyboard power button as well.

Oryginalność tej konstrukcji sponsoruje pomarańczowy przycisk i logo.

F-Secure o Xiaomi – IMEI i numer telefonu wysyłane na serwery firmy →

FSLabs:

We started with a „fresh out of the box” test, so no account setup was done or cloud service connection was allowed (…) We saw that on startup, the phone sent the telco name to the server api.account.xiaomi.com. It also sent IMEI and phone number to the same server (…)

A od tego zaczął się temat poprzedniego wpisu.

Hugo Barra o prywatności klientów Xiaomi

12 sierpnia 2014 · 22:02

Hugo Barra, dnia 31/07/2014:

Xiaomi is serious about user privacy and takes all possible steps to ensure our Internet services adhere to our privacy policy. We do not upload any personal information and data without the permission of users. In a globalized economy, Chinese manufacturers’ handsets are selling well internationally, and many international brands are similarly successful in China – any unlawful activity would be greatly detrimental to a company’s global expansion efforts.

Hugo Barra, dnia 10/08/2014:

In a lengthy blogpost on Google Plus, Xiaomi Vice President Hugo Barra apologized for the unauthorized data collection and said the company only collects phone numbers in users’ address books to see if the users are online.

He said the smartphone’s messaging system would now only activate on an „opt-in” basis and that any phone numbers sent back to Xiaomi servers would be encrypted and not stored.

22 lipca 2014 · 22:32

Vlad Savov:

Barra is only a year into his job as leader of Mi’s internationalization efforts, but he’s already „sick and tired” of hearing his company derided as an Apple copycat. He sees Mi as „an incredibly innovative company” that never stops trying to improve and refine its designs, and the allegations of it copying Apple are „sweeping sensationalist statements because they have nothing better to talk about.”

True story.
