2 stycznia 2014 · 10:54

Do telefonów … Czytaj dalej

NSA i TAO – metody działania, które Was zadziwią →

Spiegel:

If a target person, agency or company orders a new computer or related accessories, for example, TAO can divert the shipping delivery to its own secret workshops. The NSA calls this method interdiction. At these so-called „load stations,” agents carefully open the package in order to load malware onto the electronics, or even install hardware components that can provide backdoor access for the intelligence agencies. All subsequent steps can then be conducted from the comfort of a remote computer.

These minor disruptions in the parcel shipping business rank among the „most productive operations” conducted by the NSA hackers, one top secret document relates in enthusiastic terms. This method, the presentation continues, allows TAO to obtain access to networks „around the world.”

Dear Mr. President and Members of Congress,

We understand that governments have a duty to protect their citizens. But this summer’s revelations highlighted the urgent need to reform government surveillance practices worldwide. The balance in many countries has tipped too far in favor of the state and away from the rights of the individual — rights that are enshrined in our Constitution. This undermines the freedoms we all cherish. It’s time for a change.

PRISM is a tool used by the US National Security Agency (NSA) to collect private electronic data belonging to users of major internet services like Gmail, Facebook, Outlook, and others. It’s the latest evolution of the US government’s post-9/11 electronic surveillance efforts, which began under President Bush with the Patriot Act, and expanded to include the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) enacted in 2006 and 2007.

So even if we take Microsoft’s word that the Kinect doesn’t currently upload your private conversations to remote servers, can we trust that Microsoft won’t change that in a future software update?

Już sam fakt, że to pytanie padło, jest przerażający.

Apparently, at least one of the nine companies listed in the NSA’s PRISM slides put up a fight. Yahoo!, that is.

Brawo! Ciekawy jestem jak bardzo walczył Apple. Wiemy jedynie, że Microsoft dawał im więcej niż wymagano od nich.

Craig Timberg:

A classified NSA slide obtained by The Washington Post and published here for the first time lists “Two Types of Collection.”

One is PRISM, the NSA program that collects information from technology companies, which was first revealed in reports by the Post and Britain’s Guardian newspaper last month. The slide also shows a separate category labeled “Upstream,” described as accessing “communications on fiber cables and infrastructure as data flows past.”

Nie czekaj aż Google i PRISM zbiorą dane o Tobie, dostarcz je im na HDD osobiście →

Lamia Youseff:

To use offline disk import, write your data to HDDs and then ship them to a Google import center using a mail carrier. For security during shipment, the data on the HDDs must be encrypted. Upon receiving the shipment, Google uploads the data into an empty Cloud Storage bucket that you designate. Because the data is loaded directly via Google’s network, this approach may be faster or less expensive than transferring data over the Internet.
