Pojawił się nowy firmware uruchamiający CarPlay dla jednostek Pioneera, które go wspierają. Dajcie znać jeśli macie takowy – mam kilka pytań.

Zarówno Mercedes jak i Volvo już potwierdziły, że będzie dopiero w 2015 roku. Pioneer obiecał wprowadzenie go już dawno, poprzez update firmware’u, do wybranych modeli ze swojej oferty – niestety nadal milczy w ten sprawie.

The NEX infotainment systems have been out since the spring, and they’re the only Pioneer Electronics systems that will have CarPlay compatibility. (Sorry, Cardenas says, but only the NEX systems have the processing power to handle CarPlay.) The upgrade will be available as a download from Pioneer’s website, which you can transfer to your NEX system using a USB key drive. When? Pioneer’s official line is early summer.

Anyone with a NEX system installed in their car will be able to download the firmware upgrade from Pioneer’s website when it becomes available, Pioneer’s Ted Cardenas confirmed in a briefing with TechHive. The NEX systems include a rear USB port and a USB cable extension, so users can load the upgrade via a USB thumb drive.
Once you have CarPlay installed on your NEX system, connecting your iPhone is designed to be easy. “Because CarPlay is a core part of iOS 7.1, anyone with the OS can plug in the Lightning-to-USB cable, and CarPlay will automatically launch on their Pioneer NEX receiver,” Cardenas explained.
Przedwczoraj Alpine ogłosił swoją gotowość do współpracy z CarPlay, a wczoraj ripostował mu Pioneer z jeszcze ciekawszą ofertą – obecni użytkownicy serii NEX będą mieli CarPlay poprzez uaktualnienie firmware’u. Nie mogę się doczekać czegoś sensownego, żeby wstawić to do samochodu…
